Anita Jones-Mueller, MPH, is president and founder of Healthy Dining. She is a nationally known public health nutrition expert and a market innovator, thought leader and strategist in the healthy eating landscape. Anita is actively creating a healthier America – in a delicious way, every day, as the dynamic leader of a mission that integrates the brainpower, artistry and passion of chefs, restaurateurs, registered dietitians, public health influencers, technology strategists, and communication and digital experts.

Anita’s burning passion to unite optimal health with the culinary artistry of the restaurant industry has led to a robust and growing company that showcases a diverse selection of dietitian-recommended Healthy Dining and Kids LiveWell choices from hundreds of restaurant brands nationwide. Participating restaurants and qualifying choices are featured on the signature web and mobile site, – the only search engine of its kind designed to empower Americans to dine out with taste and good health in mind.

By leveraging the cutting edge expertise of the integrated team, Healthy Dining is a partner to restaurants of all sizes looking to meet their guests’ varying nutrition needs. In addition to the HealthyDiningFinder marketing program, other areas of expertise include nutrient analysis, menu labeling compliance, gluten and allergen identification and healthier preparation methods. Through it all, the core expertise Anita and her team provide includes the strategy and foundation to help restaurants transition in this nutrition focused era without compromising on taste – or brand positioning.

Healthy Dining has developed new MyMenu technology to provide healthcare and the 5Ws (Wellness orgs, Worksites, Weight loss, Wearables and Warriors/military) with mobile and digital dining out tools and resources to ultimately transform EATING as the prevention prescription of our nation’s devastating health issues such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

To date, Healthy Dining has received $4.5M in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program to develop and evaluate its innovative technologies. Designed to impact the nation’s most urgent public health priorities, and backed by NIH’s science-based evaluation standards, Healthy Dining’s solutions are specifically focused on bringing positive health-related environmental and consumer change through the restaurant and food industries and nationwide and regional stakeholders.

Anita was selected by the First Lady, Michelle Obama, as one of five “Women Working Wonders” for “giant barriers” and featured in July/Aug 2015 edition of MORE magazine. She has also been featured in USA Today, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union Tribune, San Diego Business Journal, Santa Barbara News Press and other media venues. Anita writes a Healthy Dining column for Nation’s Restaurant News to share industry best practices and tips for creating and marketing healthful cuisine.

Anita earned a master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s degree in health education from Portland State University in Oregon. She is always happily “at work” even at home, promoting the benefits of healthful eating to her two daughters and husband.
